Donnie Quinn Named Spain Park Men’s Hoops Coach

Hoover, AL : Perennial 7A hoops power, Spain Park, doesn’t travel far to nab it’s next leader.   Current Jaguars men’s and women’s basketball assistant and former Hoover girls head coach Donnie Quinn will take the rains on Valleydale next season.

Quinn will be taking over for Neal Barker who was not retained following a 24-6 season which included an early exit from the post season.  The Jags, ranked second in 7A, were upset by a Vestavia Hills squad in the first round of the AHSAA tournament.

The 60 year old Quinn brings 35 years of basketball coaching experience to the SPHS hardwood.  He also brings some impressive hardware.  Quinn lead the Hoover girls to two 6A state championships in addition to a Louisiana state hoops title during his head coaching tenure in LA.

In addition to his experience on the preps hardwood, Quinn has served as an assistant at the collegiate level with Alabama and Louisiana-Monroe.
