Clayton Harris is out at Sidney Lanier after leading the Poets to the post season for the first time since 2008.
In a prepared statement, Lanier Principal Antonio Williams said “I want to commend coach Clayton Harris for his efforts as a head coach and thank him for his three years of service. We are proud of the work he’s done for the football program, but at this time, the administrative team thinks it’s best to go in a different direction”.
Harris compiled a 6-25 record in his three years at SLHS. Similarly, former Poets head coach, Angelo Wheeler, left the school with a 5-25 record during his three year stint with the program from 2010-2012.
According to Montgomery Public Schools spokesman, Tom Salter, Harris will remain as the school’s athletic director.
