The Huffman High School Basketball Program Is Ready For The Challenge

It has been an exciting season for the Huffman High School basketball program. The Vikings are having the type of season that most people did not expect them to have. “Our Motto was to be great and accountable” says Coach Steve Ward, Vikings boys head coach.

Both Huffman boys and girls teams will continue their journey for state at the BJCC. The boys team beat their rival Center Point High School 71-61 in the regional championship. Coach Ward says that his team was ready to take on Center Point high school.

“It feels good to go play at the BJCC” says Viking basketball player, Travarus Carroll. He says “Homewood is a good team. We will just have to come out and see if we can win.” Carroll, also says the Huffman girls team has always been their drive to go out and play. He says “when they win-we win”.

The Vikings girls team beat Shades Valley 60-49 in the regional championship.

The Lady Vikings will play at 12 P.M. and the boys will play at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday in the state semifinals at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama. Both will play against Homewood, whom which they have played during the regular season. The Class 6A State Championship is set for 12:30 P.M. on Saturday.
