Longtime Stanhope-Elmore Football Coach Resigns

Millbrook, AL – After 16 seasons Stanhope-Elmore head football coach and athletic director Jeff Foshee abruptly resigned Thursday evening.

“My health is not great” Foshee told Al.com. “I’m a diabetic and, honestly, I’m a little burned out.

The Stanhope-Elmore graduate offered his resignation, effective immediately, during a special called meeting of the Elmore County Board of Education at 7 p.m. in Wetumpka.

During Foshee’s 16 seasons he lead the Mustangs to a record of 105-72 including 12 playoff apperances and a pair of region titles.

Foshee took the helm at SEHS from his father, Jimmy, who won 212 games from 1975-1999.

On Friday the Elmore County  Board of Education named Scott Johnson interim athletic director and announced that Rick Cahalane will lead the Mustangs as head football in 2016.
