Seven Alabama Softball Standouts Earn All-America Honors

Three Alabama Juniors, two sophmores and a pair of freshmen earned a spot on  MaxPreps’ 2016 Underclass All-America team.

Spain Park Junior Mary Katherine Tedder lead the Jaguars to a 40-19 record before loosing to the Sparkman Senators in the AHSAA State Softball Championship.  The University of Texas commit set a Spain Park record with 20 home runs.

Kendall Beth Sides of Sumiton Christian, lead the 2A State Champion Eagles with 101 base hits, 104 runs scored and 82 stolen bases.  Sides, the 2015 MaxPreps sophmore national player of the year was named the AHSAA 2A softball player of the year and holds national records for scoring and stolen bases.  She is committed to the University of Alabama.

Sparkman‘s MacKenzie Nutt who is committed to Clint Meyers Auburn Tigers, hit a team best 12 home runs while driving in 76 runs and batting .444 in route to a 34-7 record and the AHSAA 7A State Championship.

Lacey Fincher, a sophomore at Mobile’s Faith Academy, lead the Rams to a 21-9 record and a birth in the AHSAA south regional.  The Georgia commit hit a team leading 18 home runs, driving in 57 RBI’s with a .460 average.

Olivia Aycock, stole 53 bases, scored 60 runs and had 92 base hits as a sophomore for Huntsville’s Westminster Christian Wildcats.

Freshman Abby Swaney lead the Springville Tigers to a AHSAA 5A state title in 2016.  In addition to being named the class 5A pitcher of the year, the Samford University commit posted a 25-6 record on the mound with a 0.79 ERA with 224 strikeouts over 117 innings.

T.J. Webster, the second Sparkman Senator to make the list lead, the 7A State Champions with a team best .451 batting average, 58 steals, 65 runs scored and 24 walks as a Freshman.

2015 Sophomore Player of the Year – Kendall Beth Sides, Sumiton Christian School (Currently entering her senior year at Walker County’s Sumiton Christian School)

2014 Freshman Player of the Year – Jenna Ergle, Sumiton Christian School (Currently entering her senior year at Walker County’s Sumiton Christian School)
