Arab takes down Grissom in season opener

Arab, AL – The Arab Arabian Knights kicked off 2016 with a 20-7 win over the 7A Grissom Tigers in what was likely the Knights final home opener in The Pit before moving to a purposed off campus stadium next season.

With one game in the books, head coach Adam Gilbert’s Knights have equaled their win total from 2015.

Arab’s Drew Hudson put the home team on the board first with a six yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.  After leading the Tigers 7-0 at the break, Knights junior running back Connor Smith connected with a pair of TD runs in the second half to put the game out of reach.

The Knights are looking to improve from a disappointing 1-9 campaign in 2015.  The Knights will look to double their win total from last season next week as they host cross county rival Albertville (1-0).  This will be the 77th meeting, all time, between the Knights and Aggies.  Albertville holds a 44-29-4 series lead, including last season’s 16-7 victory over the Knights.
