Mobile Christian placed on probation, forfeits season opener

Mobile, AL – The Mobile Christian Leopards, ranked 5th in 3A, are being forced to forfeit their season opening win after playing an ineligible player.

In addition to giving up their 49-6 victory over Florida’s Lighthouse Christian, the Leopards will be placed on probation for a year and be assessed a $300 fine by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

Mobile Christian self-reported the violation which stemmed from playing an ineligible player who transferred from another private school within the Overlapping School Zone.

The player involved in the violation, who has not been identified, will be required to sit out the remainder of the 2016 season and the first game of 2017.

Mobile Christian will begin region play Friday night against the Excel Panthers (0-1) at Harrison Field.
