Hartsville, TN- For Brad Waggoner, the move to Trousdale County was a very exciting opportunity.
“I wouldn’t have left Georgia Tech for anywhere unless it checked all my boxes,” Waggoner said. Waggoner says that he wants to be in a place that has high expectations and place that has a rich tradition in high school football.
Waggoner replaces David Baker who was terminated after spending 2 years as head coach.
“I am looking forward to getting back to leading a high school football program and helping kids succeed on the field as well as in life. I missed the daily interaction with the kids,” said Waggoner.
Waggoner just completed his final season as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel with Georgia Teach after 4 years. Before going the G-Tech Yellow Jackets he served as a high school head coach for 10 years in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida.
Waggoner served as the head football coach at Luverne (AL) high school and led the program to a 25-11 record in three seasons (2005-07) which included three Class 2A playoff appearances.
Waggoner also served as the head coach at Pike County (AL) in 2008 where he took the Bulldogs to the 2A playoffs his lone season there where they were defeated by his former team Luverne in the first round as Pike County finished the year at 5-5.
“Georgia Tech was a great experience that I will always be thankful for,” said Waggoner. It gave me even more of appreciation for high school football. I was looking for a place that cares deeply about football, where football was important, where there was a tradition and high expectations, and also the best fitting for my family from a community standpoint. Trousdale County met those check marks.”
“Trousdale County has won 10 state championships and we look to add on to the tradition,” Waggoner said.
The Trousdale Yellow Jackets finished 8-3 in their last season under former head coach, Baker.
