Hoover LAX knocks off Spain Park in comeback

The Hoover Bucs (6-4) scored six unanswered goals to take down arch rival Spain Park (6-4) 9-7 on senior night at Buccaneer Stadium.  The Bucs held the Jaguars scoreless over the final 16:42 of the contest while the offense kicked it into high gear scoring 6 goals, four of which were in the fourth quarter.  

Buccaneer seniors shined during the city championship matchup.  Senior Luke Stephens notched his 300th career faceoff win while fellow seniors accounted for 10 of the teams 13 points on the night.  

Both squads remain in contention for an Alabama varsity lacrosse title as Hoover jumps to #5 in the GBYLA standings while the Jaguars slip to 6th.  Both squads are currently 2.5 games back from league leaders Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook.  

The Bucs faceoff next against Madison’s James Clemens High (0-5) Saturday, April 22 at 6:00 at Buccaneer Stadium. 

Spain Park will host the undefeated Mountain Brook Spartans (9-0) Thursday April 20th at Jaguar Stadium.
