Vestavia Wins State Lacrosse Title

Birmingham, AL – The Vestavia Hills Rebels ran through 2017 unbeaten to claim the 2017 Alabama varsity lacrosse state championship.  

The Rebels capped their 15-0 state title run with a 15-11 victory over the Briarwood Christian Lions Saturday at Birmingham-Southern College.  

Head Coach Randy Nace’s Rebels championship run included road wins over playoff teams UMS-Wright, Homewood, Auburn, Spain Park, Hoover and Mountain Brook.  

Briarwood’s runner-up season was highlighted by regular season wins over playoff teams Hoover, Spain Park, Homewood, Oak Mountain, Bob Jones, UMS-Wright and Randolph.  Entering the GBYLA postseason as the third seed, the Lions knocked off the top 10 ranked Auburn Tigers and second seeded Mountain Brook Spartans.
