Alabama 7A powers slip in HSFA National Top 100

Birmingham, AL – Three Alabama 7A football powers remain ranked in the High School Football American Top 100 rankings but each squad slipped from their spots last week.  


#28 Hoover Buccaneers (6-1) (5-0)

The Hoover Bucs remain the highest ranked Alabama squad in this weeks HSFA Top 100 but Just Niblett’s team also saw the biggest decline from last week.  The Bucs slid from No. 20 to 28th in the nation.  Hoover will have an opportunity to climb back into the top 20 over the next three week’s as they will face what is shaping up to be their biggest three game stretch in recent memory.  The Bucs travel to arch rival Vestavia Hills (3-4) (2-3) this Friday before closing out the regular season at home against the Thompson Warriors (7-0) (5-0), ranked third in this week’s ASWA Top 10, and Florida’s IMG Academy.  IMG is ranked No. 2 in this week’s HSFA Top 100.


#54 Hewitt-Trussville Huskies (7-0) (5-0)

Hewitt-Trussville slipped one spot to No. 54 this week following their 34-27 win over a much improved Sparkman Senators (5-2) (3-2) squad.  Josh Floyd’s Huskies are three games away from capping off their second consecutive perfect regular season.  Hewitt closes out 2017 with region contests on the road at Huntsville (4-3) (2-3) and James Clements (2-5) (1-4) before hosting the 6A Florence Falcons (2-5) (2-3) on November 3rd.  The last time the Huskies lost a regular season game was October 30th 2015.


#61 Central – Phenix City Red Devils

The Central Red Devils, ranked No. 1 in the Alabama Sports Writers 7A Top 10 slid one tick from 60th to 61st this week.  The Devils, who are coming off a 55-18 thumping of the Jeff Davis Volunteers, have scored north of 45 points in 5 of seven contests while holding opponents to a touchdown or less in four games so far this season.  Central closes out 2017 with Lee-Montgomery (5-2) (3-1) and Prattville (3-3) (2-2) before taking a week off heading into the postseason.
