Five Hewitt-Trussville Huskies pick-up SEC offers

Brant Berry | PrepsNet

Trussville, AL – Five Hewitt-Trussville gridiron standouts picked up offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks this week.  New Razorbacks head coach Chad Morris extended offers to junior quarterback Paul Tyson, senior safety Myles Mason, junior offensive tackle Pierce Quick, and sophomore receivers Malachi Moore and Dazalin Worsham.

Morris, who is looking to retool the Arkansas offense from a ground-and-pound, pro-style attack to the spread, likely finds stars from Trussville’s “Husky Fast” offense appealing.  Current Hewitt head coach Josh Floyd, an Arkansas native, studied the hurry up no huddle attack that the Huskies employ under Auburn’s Gus Malzahn.  Floyd played quarterback for the Tigers head coach and took over for him as head coach at Springdale, Arkansas’ Shiloh Christian, winning four state titles with the Saints in 10 years before making the move to east to Trussville.

Hewitt is coming off their second straight 11-1, region championship season.  The Huskies will make the move back to 7A region 3 in 2018 to join metro area foes Hoover, Mtn. Brook, Vestavia Hills, Thompson and Oak Mtn.

Paul Tyson | Junior Quarterback

The great-grandson of Alabama coaching legend Paul “Bear” Bryant, Tyson completed 238 of 336 passes for for 3,392 yards and 36 touchdowns leading the Huskies to their second straight undefeated regular season.  The junior holds offers from 15 FBS programs including, Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Arkansas, USC, Oregon and Tennessee among others.

Myles Mason | Senior Safety

Mason, a 6’2, 205 pound safety, transferred from Pleasant Grove High to play his senior season for Josh Floyd’s Huskies in 2017.  He is currently committed to Mississippi State and hold offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida State, Tennessee and Louisville.

Pierce Quick | Junior Offensive Tackle

Quick committed to Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide in April but holds offers from 18 programs including Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Oregon and Tennessee.

Malachi Moore | Sophomore Receiver

Moore has the ability to play on both sides of the ball, lining up at both wide receiver and corner.  The versatile sophomore has been offered by Arkansas, Oregon, UAB and East Carolina among others.

Dazlin Worsham | Sophomore Receiver

Worsham, a former Gardendale Rocket, is currently rated as a four star prospect by 247.  The 6’1, 170 pound wideout will have his pick of brand name programs to choose from in two years.  His is currently being courted by Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, UAB and Troy.
