Ramsay Student Athletes Sign To Continue Athletic Careers

Birmingham, AL | With classmates, coaches, family, and friends looking on, 3 Ramsay student-athletes signed college scholarships on Friday in the school’s auditorium.

Brian Sims Jr. signed to play Basketball/Track at Clayton State, Grant Bend signed to play basketball at Norwich University.

Ramsay football player Parker Broughton also signed to play at Huntington University.

Ramsay Basketball Coach Denton Johnson says Sims and Bend showed great leadership and work ethic during their time with the team. He says that both players are high character and hard working guys who worked to implement those characteristics in the Rams basketball program.

Brian Sims and Grant Bend were both known for their academic excellence. Sims holds a 4.2 GPA while running track and field as well as participating in band. Bend holds a 4.0 GPA while playing basketball.

“College programs/coaches can expect hard working, high character, and high academic guys that are going to be great teammates and do everything the right way,” says Rams Basketball Coach Denton Johnson. Johnson also said that Sims and Bend will make their perspective programs better.
