Clay-Chalkville slips past Thompson in spring game


Alabaster, AL – The Clay-Chalkville Cougars edged the Thompson Warriors 35-34 in the metro area powers spring clash Saturday afternoon in Larry Simmons Stadium.  

The Warriors were led on offense by University of Alabama commit Taulia Tagovailua.  The rising senior completed 34 of 44 passes for 321 yards including four touchdown passes and a pair of two point conversion tosses.  The reigning 7A region 3 champions were paced on the receiving end by Kyle Smoak who hauled in 15 grabs for 119 yards and a pair of TD’s.  

Thompson travels to south Alabama to kick off their 2018 campaign August 31st at Foley High School’s Ivan Jones Stadium.  After traveling to Hoover to take on the state champion Bucs September 7th, Mark Freeman’s Warriors will christen their new stadium September 14th, hosting region rival Oak Mountain

Clay-Chalkville kicks off 2018 August 23rd, on the road in Griffin, Georgia.
