Top ranked Vestavia remains unbeaten with win over second ranked Mtn Brook

Vestavia Hills, AL – The No. 1 ranked Vestavia Hills Rebels (12-0, 7-0) became Alabama varsity lacrosse’s lone unbeaten team Thursday night knocking off the defending state champion Mountain Brook Spartans (7-0) 14-12 at the Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex.

The No. 1 vs No. 2 matchup pitted the state’s top ranked defense, Vestavia, who has held opponents to 30 goals through 12 games against a potent Spartan offense who is leading the league with 118 goals through eight contests.

The loss marked the first time the Spartans have been defeated since falling to the Briarwood Lions, May 11th 2007, in the Alabama high school lacrosse semifinals.

Randy Nace’s Rebels return to action Tuesday April 9th, on the road, at John Carroll Catholic (2-6) before traveling to Shelby County to take on third ranked Oak Mountain (6-2), Thursday April 18th. Mountain Brook faces off against the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies (3-7) Sunday April 7th at the Trussville Sports Complex.
