Where did former Alabama high school standouts land in the 2019 NFL Draft?

Six former Alabama high school football standouts were selected in the three day NFL draft April 25th – 27th in Nashville, TN.

Wenonah Dragons and Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was the first in-state prospect off the board being selected third overall by the New York Jets. Williams won the 2018 Outland Trophy and was a unanimous All-American last season for the Crimson Tide.

Monroeville’s Tytus Howard made history becoming the first Alabama State University Hornet to be taken in the first round of the NFL draft. Howard played Quarterback at Monroe County High School before signing to play tight end at Alabama State. He is projected as an offensive tackle with the Houston Texans.

Quincy Williams joined his brother Quinnen as the second Wenonah Dragon to be selected, being nabbed by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 98th overall pick. The former AHSAA track and field high jump champion lead Murray State with 111 tackles in 2018. The Jags plan to use Williams as an outside linebacker.

Carver-Montgomery’s Mack Wilson was the fourth Alabama prep star to selected. The Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker was snapped up by the Cleveland Browns with the 155th overall pick. Wilson becomes the first Alabama player to join former Crimson Tide quarterback and current Browns head coach Freddie Kithens’ Cleveland squad.

Miami Hurricanes and Spain Park Jaguars cornerback Michael Jackson came off the board with the 158th pick by the Dallas Cowboys. The lockdown corner recored 42 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in 2018. Less than 10 picks after taking Michael, the Cowboys selected his teammate Joe Jackson. Naturally this spurred some comparisons to The Jackson 5 on social media.

With their second of three sixth round pics, the Cincinnati Bengals made Vigor High’s Deshaun Davis the last in-state player taken in the 83rd NFL draft. The Mobile native racked up 112 tackles (57 solo) with 15 for loss and a pair of passes defended at Auburn in 2018.
