Gibson steps down as Leeds head coach, becomes system AD

Leeds, AL – When the Leeds Green Wave welcome the Sylacauga Aggies to Homer Smiles Field August 23rd they will have new leadership on the sidelines. Sources have confirmed to PrepsNet that Leeds head football coach Lee Gibson is stepping away from his on-field role to become the system wide Athletic Director for the Leeds City School system.

Gibson has lead the Green Wave to a 18-15 record, including a pair of playoff appearances, during his three year tenure at helm of the Leeds program. Before coming to LHS prior to the 2016 season, the Carrolton native served as the head coach at 7A Tuscaloosa County. He guided the Wildcats to a 42-37 mark and six postseason births over seven years.

Gibson’s head coaching record currently stands at 60-51, 43-26 in region play, over 11 seasons.
