James Moore resigns as East Lawrence head coach

Trinity, AL – After two seasons at the helm of the East Lawrence High football program James Moore is stepping away.

PrepsNet has learned that the UNA alum has accepted the head coaching job at Greenville, Georgia’s Manchester High School. Moore will replace former Manchester Blue Devils head coach Evan Hochsteler who was released after leading the Devils to a 10-3 record in 2019.

Moore becomes the second Alabama head coach this offseason to accept a position in the peach state. Central-Phenix City’s Jamey Dubose accepted the top job at Valdosta’s Lowndes High.

Moore’s coaching career spans 18 seasons, 6 as a head coach, with stops in Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia. He lead East Lawrence to their first non-losing season in 22 years, compiling a 5-5 record in 2019.

His career head coaching record, in Alabama, currently stands at 16-25 over five seasons including 10-14 mark in region play and a region title in his last season at Lamar County in 2016.

The Eagle’s next leader on the gridiron will be the program’s fourth head coach in the past five seasons.
