Andrew Zow named Sylacauga head coach

Sylacauga, AL – Less than an month after longtime Sylacauga head coach Matt Griffith officially announced his retirement, the Aggies have landed their next leader on the gridiron. The Sylacauga City School Board confirmed former University of Alabama quarterback Andrew Zow the as the Aggies 20th head football coach Monday afternoon.

Zow is coming off a year at the helm of the 6A Bessemer City Purple Tigers. Before taking over the Bessemer City program in 2019, Zoe lead the Calera Eagles for three seasons posting a 16-18 record including a pair of playoff births. He began his Alabama high school coaching career at the helm of the Montevallo Bulldogs program from 2012-2015, leading the 4A program to a combined 13-29 record and a trip to the second round of the AHSAA postseason in 2015.

Zow’s head coaching record currently stands at 37-50 over eight seasons with a 24-25 mark in region play and four postseason appearances.

Zow takes the reigns of the Sylacuaga program from Matt Griffith who lead the Aggies to a combined 98-64 record over 15 seasons including 11 postseason births and a 51-48 mark in region play.
