Muscle Shoals & Deshler postpone football seasons

Birmingham, AL – Muscle Shoals and Deshler high schools joined the list of Alabama programs who won’t be kicking off their football season next month.

Muscle Shoals announced that all of its sports will postpone the start of their seasons until September 1st. Deshler will push the start of their football season back two weeks but will begin cross country and volleyball as scheduled.

Muscle Shoals and Deshler were scheduled to kickoff the 2020 season against each other Thursday, August 20th in Tuscombia, that game will now be played on September 25th at Howard Chappell Stadium. The Tiger’s week one matchup with Russellville has been canceled. Muscle Shoals was set to host 7A Florence on September 28th, by all indications that game will be scrapped.

Muscle Shoals is now slated to open their season September 4th, at home, against the Decatur Red Raiders. Deshler will kickoff their season September 4th, on the road, at West Limestone.

Greene and Sumter Counties announced earlier this week that their programs would not compete in fall sports. Barbour County announced Wednesday that they were canceling athletic competition for the entire 2020-2021 school year.
