Battle between No. 1 Thompson and 2nd ranked Hewitt-Trussville will be aired on ESPNU

Birmingham, AL – This week’s heavy weight bout between Alabama’s top ranked 7A powers will be carried live nationally by ESPNU.  2nd ranked Hewitt-Trussville (4-0, 2-0) will welcome the defending 7A champion and No. 1 ranked Thompson Warriors (4-0, 2-0) to a sold out Husky Stadium at 7:30 this Friday night.

The last time the two powers met on the gridiron Hewitt came out on top 35-29, handing the eventual state champion Warriors their only defeat of 2019.

This year’s contest will feature a host of major college prospects on both sides.  Mark Freeman’s Warriors will be lead by Alabama defensive line commit Jeremiah Alexander, Army commit Tre Roberson and sophomores Tony Woods and Peter Mitchell.  Josh Floyd’s Huskies will be headlined by Auburn running back pledge Armoni Goodwin and defensive ends Riley Quick and Justice Finkley.

The battle between the 4-0 Huskies and Warriors coupled with the contest between fellow undefeated region foes Hoover and Oak Mountain, which will be taking place at the Hoover Met Friday night, will shed some light on the 7A region 3 race as the the second half of the regular season begins.

This will be the second nationally televised contest of the season featuring Alabama squads.  St. Paul’s Episcopal knocked off Spanish Fort 17-14 in week one on ESPN.
