Davidson forfeits makeup game with No. 9 Fairhope due to COVID-19 concerns

Mobile, AL – PrepsNet has learned that the Davidson Warriors will forfeit Tuesday night’s region makeup game with the 9th ranked Fairhope Pirates.  The game was rescheduled from earlier in the season due to Hurricane Sally. 

According to the Mobile County Public School System, one member of the Warriors varsity football team tested positive for the coronavirus and approximately 20 players and two assistant coaches, who have been in direct contact with the player, have been directed to enter quarantine.  

Davidson is slated to take on the Mary Montgomery Vikings (1-7, 0-6) in a 7A Region 1 matchup Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at Ladd-Peoples Stadium.  A decision on whether or not the game will be be played is expected to be made in the coming days. 

The forfeit drops Davidson to 1-7, 1-5 in region play, with region contests against Mary Montgomery and Baker (4-3, 4-2) remaining on the schedule.  Top ten ranked Fairhope improves to 6-2, 4-2 with a pair of home region games against Alma Bryant (3-5, 2-4) and Murphy (5-4, 4-3) left in the regular season.
