Six Arabian Knights land on All-Marshall County Football Team

Arab, AL – Six members of Lee Ozmint’s Arab High School football squad picked up All-Marshall County honors following the Knights 2020 campaign.
The list list was headlined by standout senior Mathew Turnage who was named Marshall County offensive Co-MVP. Turnage capped his Arabian Knight career with 4,016 rushing yards and was also named to the 6A Region 7 All-Region team.
Turnage shared offensive MVP honors with Boaz running back Kadin Bennefield. Guntersville receiver Jack Harris was named this year’s overall Most Valuable Player.
Joining Tunage on the All-County first team were senior linebacker Christian Eaton, junior linebacker Mitchell Duquette, junior receiver John Wesson Johnson, senior defensive lineman Cody Morgan and sophomore safety Hayden O’Reilly.
Seven Knights also landed on the All-County Honorable Mention list including, senior receiver Alex Alcala, junior defensive lineman Caleb Roe, junior offensive lineman Jebb Bryan, junior offensive lineman Jaden Clark, sophomore defensive back John Ray Wilks, sophomore receiver Spencer Strickland and junior kicker Gavin Currier.
Marshall County Coach of the Year honors went to Guntersville’s Lance Reese. Reese lead the Wildcats to a 5th place finish in class 5A, a second round birth in the AHSAA postseason and the Marshall County championship in his 11th season at the helm of the Guntersville program.
The Guntersville Wildcats had 11 players selected to the All-County team with six receiving honorable mentions. Boaz placed six on the All-County team and four honorable mentions, Albertville had three All-County selections with four honorable mentions. The Asbury Rams had two All-County players and four honorable mentions, DAR placed five on the All-County squad with six honorable mentions, Douglas had four All-County players and five honorable mentions. Brindlee Mountain had one All-County selection and a pair of honorable mentions.
The Knights closed out Lee Ozmint’s second season in Arab at 5-6 with wins over 7A Albertville, region foe’s Southside-Gadsden and Pell City and local rivals Brewer and Boaz. The Knights season came to a close in the first round of the 6A playoffs, on the road, at eventual state champion Pinson Valley.
