Matt Patterson named Buckhorn head football coach

New Market, AL – The Buckhorn Bucks didn’t look far to find their next leader on the gridiron.  The 6A program has named former Bob Jones offensive coordinator and Madison Academy assistant Matt Patterson its next head football coach.

Patterson replaces former Buckhorn head coach Keith Henderson who lead the Bucks for three seasons.

The Arab High and University of West Alabama graduate spent 2020 on Bob Godsey’s Madison Academy staff.  From 2014-2019 he served as the Bob Jones Patriots offensive coordinator.  He also spent time as an assistant at Bibb County (2012-2014) and Holt (2011-2012).

Patterson is the son of legendary Arab and Susan Moore head coach Larry “Pod” Patterson.

The Bucks closed out 2020 at 4-6, 3-4 in 6A Region 8 play.
