Arab High School SportsPlex to get synthetic turf
Arab, AL – The Arab City Schools SportsPlex, home of the Arabian Knight football, is receiving major upgrades prior to the 2021 football season.
Construction began last month on the installation of a new synthetic turf playing surface at the off-campus stadium that opened it’s doors two years ago. In April, the Arab City School Board approved a bid from Game Day Athletic Services for $672, 570 to purchase and install the turf. The project will be funded by Arab’s $3.54 million share of a $1.25 billion state bond issue that was approved by the state legislature last year.
Construction has started on our turf project at the Sportsplex! Praying for just enough rain for farmers, but not so much to slow our progress at the stadium! #BLUEprint pic.twitter.com/A3qAR0ZeCc

Game Day Athletic Services, headquartered in Birmingham, has recently installed new synthetic playing surfaces at Oneonta’s Gilbreth Stadium and Pinson Valley‘s Willie Adams Stadium. They have also installed turf at Hewitt-Trussville High School, Birmingham-Southern College, Hoover’s Greystone Country Club and Region’s Field in Birmingham.
Arab joins Gardendale and Russell County high schools who will debut new turf fields in 2021. Daphne High School recently announced plans to transition from natural grass to synthetic turf following the 2021 football season.
The Knights, who are coming off a 5-6 campaign in 2020, will begin their second season in Class 6A Region 7 alongside 1999 state champion Oxford, north east Alabama power Fort Payne, traditional rial Scottsboro, Southside-Gadsden, Pell City and Springville.
