Thompson finishes 2nd nationally in final HSFB America Top 100

Alabaster, AL – The Thompson Warriors have added another honor to their 2020 undefeated football season.  The two-time 7A state champs finished No. 2 nationally in the final High School Football America 100 rankings.

With the 2020 high school football season being split into fall and spring seasons due to the coronavirus pandemic, HSFA blended the final results of each season into one final ranking for the 2020-2021 season.

The Warriors, who closed out 2020 at 14-0 with a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Auburn in the Super 7 state title game, finished behind mythical national champion IMG Academy (Florida) in the national ranking.

Thompson was joined in the Top 100 by 7A Region 3 rivals Hoover (45) and Hewitt-Trussville (80).  Class 5A state champion St. Paul’s Episcopal (90) rounded out the four in-state schools who finished in the nations top 100.  7A runner-up Auburn (108) and 6A champion Pinson Valley (114) placed just outside the 1op 100.

The powerhouse Warriors didn’t skip on individual hardware with quarterback Connor Harrell brining home 7A Back of the Year honors, while linebacker Jeremiah Alexander was named Lineman of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
