Gardendale downs No. 10 Jackson-Olin 28-20

Gardendale, AL – The Gardendale Rockets improved to 6-2, 3-2 in Class 6A Region 6 play, with a 28-20 win over 10th ranked Jackson-Olin Friday night at Driver Stadium.

The loss drops Jackson-Olin to 6-2, 3-2 but remain firmly in the hunt to host a first round playoff contest.

The victory earned the Rockets their seventh consecutive AHSAA postseason berth.  If current projections hold, Gardendale will likely travel to North Alabama to take on the undefeated and 2nd ranked Hartselle Tigers in the first round of the playoffs.

Standout running back L.T. Sanders shined for the Rockets raking up 191 yards on 30 carries.  Kelby Collins lead the stifling Gardendale defense, who held the Mustangs to 170 yards in the contest, with 12 stops including three sacks.

Gardendale returns to action next Friday night, welcoming arch rival Mortimer Jordan (2-6, 1-4) to Driver Stadium to close out region play.  Jackson-Olin travels to Adamsville to take on the Minor Tigers (1-6, 1-4).
