Joel Schrenk out as Hazel Green head football coach

Hazel Green, AL – After three seasons at the helm of the Hazel Green football program Joel Schrenk is out as the Trojans head coach.  

The Madison County program made the move official on Monday.

During his three year tenure at Hazel Green, the Lowell, Michigan native posted a combined 7-23 record including a 3-16 mark in Class 6A, Region 8 play.

Before accepting the Trojans head coaching position prior to the 2019 season, Schrenk spent seven years leading the Falkville Blue Devils.  He left as the winningest coach in Falkville program history, guiding the Devils to a 49-27 record, including an 11-1 mark in his final season, a pair of region crowns and five trips to the AHSAA postseason.  

Schrenk’s Alabama high school head coaching record currently stands at 56-50 overall with a 3-5 mark in postseason play over 10 seasons.  

Prior to taking over at Falkville, Schrenk spent three seasons leading Tennessee high school programs Cannon County (3 seasons) and Northwest (2 seasons).  He also served as an assistant at Decatur’s Austin High for 13 seasons earlier in his career.
