Rick Darlington resigns after three seasons as Enterprise Wildcats head football coach

Enterprise, AL – After three seasons at the helm of the Enterprise High School football program, head coach Rick Darlington his going back to Florida.  

PrepsNet has learned that Darlington has accepted the head coaching position at DeLand High School in central Florida.

During his three seasons in Enterprise he lead the Wildcats a 20-14 record including three playoff appearances and a 10-8 mark in Class 7A, Region 2 play.   The Wildcats closed out 2021 at 8-4, upsetting No. 1 seed Fairhope in the opening round of the post season before falling to Auburn in round two. 

Darlington spent most of his career in the Sunshine State before accepting the top job at Enterprise prior to the 2019 season.  Earlier in his career he lead Florida power Apopka to three state championships and one runner up finish over 17 seasons at the helm of the Blue Darters program.  He had a three year stint at Georgia’s Valdosta High (2003-2005) and spent a pair of seasons leading the Eustis, FL Panthers (1996-1998).
