Tabernacle Burns Tuscaloosa Christian 60-24

Warrior, AL – The Tabernacle Torches stretched their winning streak to six games over arch rival Tuscaloosa Christian Friday night with a 60-24 win over the Warriors in front of a packed house at their adopted home field at Corner Middle School. 

The win improved the Torches to 3-2 while dripping Tuscaloosa Christian to 2-3 on the season.  

Tabernacle began their home opener shorthand with head coach Clint Chase being sidelined with an illness but the Torches came out firing opening up a 14 point lead at the end of the first quarter.  At the break, Tabernacle held a commanding 36-16 lead over their CFA foes from West Alabama.  The stingy Torches defense held the Tuscaloosa Christian Warriors to eight points in the second half while scoring 24 to claim their sixth straight win over the Tuscaloosa Christian Warriors.  

The Torches now own a 20-10 series lead over Tuscaloosa Christian. 

Quarterback Clinton Chase finished the contest competing 22-of-29 passes for 235 yards and five scores while rushing for 46 yards.  The standout senior claimed 8-Man Extreme’s Fairlife Core Power Extreme Player of the Game award for his performance in the the rivalry showdown.  

Senior Trae Andrews carried the ball 10 times for 121 yards and caught three passes for 41 yards.  

Daniel McCormick was Chase’s favorite target pulling down eight receptions for 111 yards.  Hunter Richardson snagged eight passes for 60 yards while Bryant Howard grabbed three catches for 14 and Josiah Jones caught one for nine yards.

Tabernacle returns to action next Friday night hosting defending CFA champion Russell Christian (6-0) in Warrior.  Tuscaloosa welcomes Victory Christian (0-3) to Cottondale.
