Tabernacle falls to Jacksonville in CFA semifinal

Jacksonville, AL – The Tabernacle Torches 2022 football season came to a close Friday night, on the road, at Jacksonville Christian Academy.  The second seeded Jacksonville Thunder (8-1) came out on top in the hard-fought playoff contest 46-32.  

The matchup was the Torches’ second consecutive trip to the conference semifinals.  Head coach Clint Chase’s squad compiled a 5-4 record (4-2 in CFA conference play) in 2022, highlighted by victories over arch rival Tuscaloosa Christian and nationally ranked East Central and Cornerstone Christian.  

Standout senior quarterback Clinton Chase finished the contest with 465 yards through the air, completing 29-0f-47 passes with four touchdown tosses and a a pair of interceptions.  

Senior receiver Daniel McCormick was Chase’s favorite target pulling down nine receptions for 243 yards and three touchdowns.  Fellow senior Bryant Howard caught eight passes for 144 yard and a score, Hunter Richardson made six grabs for 34 yards, Trae Andrews caught four for 27 yards and Reed Chase made a pair of catches for 17 yards.  

Eight seniors, Clinton Chase (QB/S), Hunter Richardson (WR/LB), Bryant Howard (WR/LB), David Trudeau (WR/LB), Daniel McCormick (WR/S), Daniel Walton (S/PK), Trae Andrews (HB/LB) and Walker Bell (G/DT) closed out outstanding careers in the red, blue and white.
