Shades Valley QB Out For First Round vs Arab

Irondale, AL – Shades Valley starting quarterback RaShad Louie has been suspended for the Mounties first round round playoff battle with Arab. Prepsnet.com has learned that the suspension may be the result of an incident, involving Luie, which occurred on the SVHS campus early Thursday morning.  Shades Valley Principal Mary Beth Blankenship would confirm only that Luie,

“committed a violation of team and school rules which is still under investigation”.

It is unclear if the suspension will extend beyond the Mounties first round game, at home, vs. the 7-3 Arab Knights.  It is likely that the duration of Louie’s suspension will hinge on the outcome of the school’s internal investigation of the incident.

Louie, a 5’11, 175 pound senior has completed 75 of 118 passes for 1,078 yards with 11 touchdowns and only two interceptions.  On the ground he has 70 rushing attempts for 475 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Louie has personally accounted for 1,553 total yards on the year.

Likely to replace Louie under center is senior backup quarterback Claude Newell.  The 6’3, 180 pound Newell saw significant playing time in the Mounties late season 28-26 loss to Pinson Valley.

The Arabian Knights come into Irondale riding a five game winning streak under first year head coach Adam Gilbert.

The 8-2 Mounties hold a 2-0 record all-time vs. the Knights.

The winner of this first round match-up will play on the road at the winner of the Florence, Briarwood Christian game in round two of the AHSAA 6A playoffs.
