Hoover Stretches In-State Streak to 42 Games

Hoover extends record to 13-0 all time against Oak Mountain.

For the second week in a row the Hoover Bucs (4-0) have found themselves in a dog fight with region 3 opponents. This round, against the win-less Oak Mountain Eagles once again went to the defending champs.
The Buc offense came out firing early as Senior quarterback Christopher Vacarella scored on the ground from 67 yards out on the visitors opening possession.
Answering back for the Eagles, Senior running back Coleman Reeves scampered into the end zone from inside the five.
Niblett’s Buccaneers returned serve as time expired in the first quarter with a 37 yard Barrett Pickering field goal.
After a scoreless, rain drenched second half, the Bucs took a three point lead into the locker room.
Reeves gave the Eagles a 14-10 advantage with his second TD run from withing the five yard line midway through the third quarter.
Not to be out done, Vacarella answered Reeves two scores with two of his own, the second coming early in the fourth from five yards out.
The Buc defense stood tall in the final quarter covering two Eagle fumbles and picking off a Warren Shader pass to remain unbeaten, in the series and on the season.
Next Up: Hoover returns home to face the 3-1 Thompson Warriors. Chris Bell’s Oak Mountain squad travels to Northport to face win-less Tuscaloosa County.
