Pell City has a football program that is no stranger to playoff appearances. During their 2015 season they took an 10-24 lost to Spanish Fort in the first round of playoffs.
Etheredge, who has coached the Greenwave since 2006, confirmed his move on Wednesday. He was 107-34-0 in 10 seasons, all of which were spent competing at Class 3A and Class4A. Etheredge led the Greenwave to 5 AHSAA Championship appearances in 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2015. His team was 4-1 in championship games. Prior to going to Leeds, Etheredge spent one season as assistant basketball coach at Erwin High School in Center Point, Alabama.
“I’m ready to get started, get these guys in the weight room, and see what we’ve got” said Etheredge. “We’re not going to try to wholesale change anything. We’re going to try and bring our philosophies in and we’re going to bring some different coaches in and mesh with the coaches that are here, and try to do exactly what we did at Leeds, and that’s develop a championship program and try to play for championships.”
Etheredge, will take over his new position starting Monday.
