Leeds Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against John Carroll Catholic, 6-5

LEEDS, AL– The Greenwave and John Carroll Catholic played a taut affair on Tuesday, but Leeds eventually prevailed 6-5 after taking the lead for good in the sixth inning. The game was tied at three with the Greenwave batting in the bottom of the sixth when #1 for the Cavaliers walked Tucker Hines to drive in a run.

Leeds Greenwave Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Leeds. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Leeds tied things up at three. With two outs in the fifth inning Hayden Cofield drove in one run when he doubled.

Nick Nilsen earned the win for Leeds Greenwave Varsity. He went six and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs, eight hits, and striking out five. Alex St. John recorded the last out to earn the save for Leeds Greenwave Varsity. Nilsen went 1-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with two runs batted in.
