Greenwave Emerge Victorious, In Saint Clair Double Header

GAME 1-     Leeds took the lead late and defeated St. Clair County 7-5 in Game 1 on Thursday. The game was tied at five with Leeds Greenwave Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Zach Roberts doubled off of Jonathan Brown, driving in one run.

Zach Roberts led Leeds Greenwave Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Roberts drove in runs on a stolen base in the third, a single in the sixth, and a double in the seventh. 

The Greenwave knotted the game up at five in the top of the sixth inning. With zero outs in the sixth inning, Daniel Kelly drove in one run when he singled.

Leeds scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Roberts, a single by Alex St. John, and a single by Kelly.

St. Clair County scored four runs in the fourth inning. St. Clair County’s big inning was driven by a single by Jayce Fisher and a walk by Jonathan Brown.  

Roberts earned the win for Leeds. He tossed five and third innings, surrendering five runs, six hits, and striking out seven. Tucker Hines recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Greenwave.  

Leeds had nine hits in the game. Roberts and Hayden Cofield each collected multiple hits for Leeds Greenwave Varsity. Cofield and Roberts. 

St. Clair County collected seven hits. Chirs Tipton and Jonathan Brown each collected multiple hits for St. Clair County. Brown led St. Clair County with two runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day.

GAME 2 

Leeds took the lead late and defeated St. Clair County 7-4 in game 2 on Thursday. The game was tied at four with Leeds batting in the top of the sixth when Daniel Kelly doubled off of Logan Montgomery for Saint Clair, driving in two runs.

The Greenwave earned the victory despite allowing St. Clair County to score three runs in the second inning. St. Clair County’s big inning was driven by a stolen base and a single by Jonathan Brown. 

St. Clair County took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for St. Clair County. In the top of the fifth inning, Leeds tied things up at four. JT Gray singled on a 1-2 count in the fifth inning, scoring two runs. 

Leeds Greenwave Varsity scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Daniel Kelly, an error, and a single by Gray. St. Clair County scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning for St. Clair County came thanks to a stolen base and a single by Brown. 

Alex St. John earned the win for Leeds Greenwave Varsity. He pitched six and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs, three hits, and striking out eight. Sam Sertell recorded the last out to earn the save for Leeds Greenwave Varsity. #47 started the game for St. Clair County. He tossed four innings, allowing zero runs, three hits, and striking out three. 

Leeds Greenwave Varsity had 12 hits in the game. Zach Roberts, Kelly, Alex Chattman, Brent Isbell, and Gray each collected multiple hits for the Greenwave. Kelly and Roberts each collected three hits to lead Leeds. 

Brown led St. Clair County with three hits in four at bats.
