Rose Signs With Paine College

Leeds, AL– Melina Rose made a 276-mile move Thursday when she officially started the next chapter of her volleyball career.

Rose, a senior at Leeds High School, signed her national letter of intent Thursday to play volleyball at Paine College. Rose accepted a full-ride scholarship to become a Purple Lion, and even though she’ll be in a completely different state, she’ll have the opportunity to compete against Alabama schools, Miles College and Tuskegee University, Paine College’s SIAC rival.

Her visit to Paine College to meet with head coach Kisha Lucette, a Paine Hall of Fame player, helped her determine that Paine College would be her best match.

“During my visit at Paine, it gave me that home feeling. Their campus is very historic and intimate,” Rose said. “And after meeting with the coaches and listening to what all they will offer me as a student-athlete, had a big effect on my decision.”

Rose signed before teammates, friends, and family on the Leeds High School campus, where she most recently led the Greenwave to a 22-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the AHSAA Class 4A-Area 09.

“Paine is the whole package and I can see myself growing as a student-athlete while there.” Rose said.
