Mtn Brook’s Harold Joiner commits to Auburn

Mtn. Brook, AL – The speculation surrounding where Mtn. Brook running back Harold Joiner will play football next fall is finally over.  The Spartans senior announced that he will play for Gus Malzahn’s Auburn Tigers Sunday during an official visit to The Plains.

The 6’4, 220 pound All-American is listed as the nation’s fifth best running back by the 247 composite.  He picked the Tigers over LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, UCLA and Florida State.  He holds offers from 32 division 1 programs.

Despite missing a significant amount of playing time due to injury, Joiner racked up 738 on 136 carries and scored 16 touchdowns in 2017.

Joiner helped lead the Spartans to an 8-4 record in his senior season including a trip to the second round of the AHSAA 7A playoffs.  He will join Austin High’s Asa Martin, a fellow four star running back, who signed with the Tigers in December.

Joiner is the 22nd commitment to Auburn’s 2018 class which is currently ranked 10th nationally.   He will compete for playing time with current Tiger running backs  Kam Martin, Malik Miller, Devan Barrett, JaTarvious Whitlow and incoming freshmen Asa Martin and Shaun Shivers.
