Hoover’s Josh Niblett claims his 200th career victory

Hoover, AL – Not only did the Hoover Bucs secure their 19th consecutive playoff birth Friday night at Vestavia’s Thompson Reynolds Stadium but their head coach reached a career milestone.  Josh Niblett claimed his 200th career victory.  Niblett, who as lead the Hoover program since 2008, currently holds a career record of 200-50 over 19 seasons as a head coach.  Before taking over the Hoover program the Demopolis Academy and University of Alabama graduate spent time as an assistant at Meadowview Christian Academy and Jacksonville State University before landing his first head coaching gig at 3A Oneonta in 2000.  He lead the Redskins to a 51-14 record over five seasons.  During his time in Blount County he brought home an AHSAA state championship and capped his final season at a perfect 15-0.

Following the 2004 season Niblett accepted the head coaching position at Oxford High School where he remained for three years leading the Yellow Jackets to a pair of postseason appearances and a 14-18 record.

After three seasons in Oxford Niblett took the helm of the powerhouse Hoover football program.  During his 11 seasons at Hoover he has compiled a 135-18 record placing him second all-time in wins behind only Hoover/Berry coaching legend Bob Finley.  Niblett’s Buccaneer squads have posted an unprecedented 41-4 record in the postseason and a 72-6 mark in region play while racking up six region titles, a pair of undefeated seasons and six state titles in Alabama’s largest classification.

Niblett’s eight state championships places him second all-time among Alabama high school football coaches.
