Mtn. Brook’s Yeager earns victory #100

Mountain Brook, AL – Mountain Brook head football coach Chris Yeager claimed his 100th  victory at MBHS Friday night as the Spartans knocked off Gardendale 38-14 to close out the 2018 regular season.

Yeager’s record over 13 years at the helm of the Spartan football program currently sets at 100-50.  His 100 wins ties former Mountain Brook head coach and current Mississippi State assistant Joey Jones for the most victories in program history.

A Spartan win Friday night, at Decatur’s Austin High School, will give the Fairview native the distinction of being the Over the Mountain school’s winningest.

During his 13 seasons at Mountain Brook, Yeager has lead the program to the post season eight times including a trip to the 6A semi-finals in 2010.  His Spartan teams have posted a 12-8 record in the post season and a 60-33 mark in region play while competing in what is arguably one of the toughest regions in the southeast.

Before being elevated from offensive coordinator to head coach at Mountain Brook in 2006 Yeager served as the offensive line coach at Troy University before accepting his first head coaching job at West Brockton in 1991.  He remained in Bibb County for two seasons leading the Tigers to a combined 20-4 record.  After leading West Brockton to a region title in 1992 he accepted the top job at Jasper’s Walker High School where he guided the 6A Vikings to a 5-6 mark over two years.

Over 17 years as a head coach Yeager’s overall record stands at 125-70.

The Spartans (8-2, 5-2) kickoff their road to Jordan-Hare Friday night at Austin High School (7-3, 6-1)
