Hoover’s George Pickens snags All-Star Game MVP honors
Montgomery, AL – Hoover wide receiver and Auburn University commit George Pickens took home Most Valuable Player hardware from the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic Monday night in Montgomery.
The five star receiver was named the game’s MVP, by the media, after finishing with nine grabs for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both from future Auburn teammate Bo Nix. He tied the All-Star Game record of most catches and set a new one for receiving yards in Alabama’s 24-20 loss to Mississippi at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl.
Pickens performance accounted for more than half of team Alabama’s offensive output while giving Auburn fans a glimpse of what the Tigers passing attack might look like in the future. The state’s top ranked receiver prospect hauled in both of Nix’s touchdown passes, the first a 13 yarder midway through the opening quarter the last from 32 yards out as time expired in the fourth.
How could I forget this beauty? As time expired in the 32nd annual AL MS All-Star game, the Bo Nix -> George Pickens connection struck once again. @bo_nix10 @AHSAAUpdates #WDE pic.twitter.com/gZqcAVvo18
