Oak Grove taps Zac Glaze as next head coach

Oak Grove, AL – Oak Grove is turning to a familiar face to lead to lead the Tigers in 2020. The West Jefferson County program has named 2002 OGHS alum Zac Glaze the program’s 21st head football coach.

Glaze began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater while attending UAB in the early 2000’s. After spending three seasons on Mike Battles’ Tigers staff, Glaze served as an assistant at Hueytown, Gadsden City, Minor, Hoover and Mortimer Jordan. This will be Glaze’s first stint as a head coach.

The 2007 UAB grad takes over for Pat Burchfield who resined in November after leading Oak Grove to a combined 8-32 record, including a 7-19 mark in region play over five seasons.

The Tigers, who are coming off a 1-9 campaign in 2019, will remain in class 4A region 5 following AHSAA reclassification.
