Shea Monroe elevated to Ashville head coach

Ashville, AL – The Ashville Bulldogs have named offensive coordinator Shay Monroe the program’s 22nd head football coach.

The Loganville, GA native takes over for Barry Simmons who lead the Bulldogs to a 4-16 record during his two year stint at the helm of the the 4A program.

After graduating from Georgia’s Grayson High, Monroe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Jacksonville State University while serving as a student assistant coach for the Gamecocks. He began his prep coaching career with four year stint at Dublin High (GA) where he helped lead the Fighting Irish to a pair of playoff appearances and a region title.

Before joining the Ashville staff he served as the offensive coordinator for the Lincoln Golden Bears and had a short stint as the head coach at Gadsden’s Westbrook Christian School.

He is the founder of the annual Alabama Spread & Defense Clinic.

Monroe is expected to lead the Bulldogs on the field for the first time August 21st at Ken Logan Stadium against the Oak Grove Tigers.
