Hoover’s season opener moved to new location

Hoover, AL – Hoover‘s season opening contest against Lowndes High (GA) will not be played in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The matchup, part of Georgia’s annual Corky Kell Classic, will be relocated to Gwinnett County’s Mill Creek High School in suburban Atlanta.

The Bucs will be the first Alabama team to compete in the annual event which traditionally kicks off the Georgia prep football season. The game pits Hoover against former Central-Phenix City head coach Jamey Dubose, who accepted the head coaching position at Lowndes following the Red Devil’s second consecutive Super 7 appearance in 2019. This will mark the second year in a row for the Bucs to open their season against a Dubose lead squad. Hoover knocked off Dubose and the Red Devils in last season’s annual AHSAA Kick-Off Classic 17-14.

The four-day event will kickoff with a pair of games August 19th at West Forsyth High followed by two games at Dacula August 20th, two more at Rome’s Barron Stadium August 21st and five matchups, including Hoover’s, on the 22nd at Mill Creek High in Hoschton.

The Bucs are scheduled to kickoff against the Lowndes Vikings at 6:00 PM in Mill Creek Community Stadium.
