Mortimer Jordan alum Spencer Brown shatters UAB record for rushing touchdowns

Mobile, AL – Former Mortimer Jordan running back Spencer Brown became the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns for the UAB Blazers Thursday night at The University of South Alabama’s new Hancock Whitney Stadium.

The senior running back finished the game with three touchdowns while pilling up 106 yards on 21 carries and leading the Blazers to a 42-10 victory over the USA Jags.

Brown and Clemson Tigers running back Travis Etienne are the only two active players in the nation to have over 3,000 career rushing yards.

The 6’0, 220 lb. Warrior native set the UAB rushing record as a junior despite missing four games with an ankle injury.  He entered his senior season with 3,122 career rushing yards in route to becoming the Blazers career leader in 100 yard rushing games having gone over the century mark 13 times.  

Brown appeared in all of the Blazers 27 contests in his freshman and sophomore seasons setting a school record for for touchdowns in 2018 and being named First Team All-Conference USA and the MVP of the C-USA Championship Game as a sophomore.  

He finished his career at Mortimer Jordan with 1,972 yards on 304 carries with 33 total touchdowns helping lead the Blue Devils to the 2016 AHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals.
