John Carroll varsity LAX tops Homewood 8-6

Homewood, AL – The No. 9 ranked John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers knocked off their next door neighbors, the 7th ranked Homewood Patriots, 8-6 Friday night in the varsity lacrosse squad’s annual Battle of Lakeshore Drive.

The win improved the Cavaliers, who dropped their first two contests to current top five teams Huntsville and Oak Mountain by one point a piece, to 1-2 overall, 0-2 in GBYLA play. Homewood falls to 1-2 overall but will remain 1-1 in league play.  The silver lining for the Patriots – this contest will officially go down as a exhibition game and won’t be a factor in either teams effort to advance to the post season.

The Patriots take the field Sunday afternoon at home against the No. 10 James Clemens Jets (1-2).  John Carroll plays their next three contests on the road beginning with a trip to The Plains to face the second ranked Auburn Tigers (3-0) Saturday, February 27th.
