Jamie Mitchell is leaving Shades Valley for Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa, AL – Sixteen Days after Sam Adams departed Hillcrest High for Oxford the Patriots have landed their next leader on the gridiron.  PrepsNet has learned that Shades Valley’s Jamie Michell has been selected as the west Alabama program’s 8th head football coach.

Mitchell takes over for Adams who lead the Patriots to a 56-29 mark including six playoff births and a pair of region titles during seven seasons at the helm of the Hillcrest program. 

Michell just completed his first season at Shades Valley leading the 6A Mounties to a 4-8 record including a 3-3 mark in region play and a trip to the second round of the AHSAA postseason.  Before coming to Alabama prior to the 2020 season Michell lead the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats (AR) to six Arkansas Class 7A championship game appearances, taking home a state title in 2017.  Before accepting the top job at North Little Rock Mitchell spent time as the head coach and athletic director at Mississippi’s Starkville High School.  

Michell’s career head coaching record currently stands at 219-80.
