Brandon Crews named Arab Knights men’s basketball coach

Arab, AL – The Arab Arabian Knights men’s hoops squad will have new leadership on the bench when they hit the hardwood next season.  The 6A program officially named Brandon Crews their next head men’s basketball coach Thursday afternoon.

Crews will take over for former Knights head coach Justin Jonus who lead the Knights varsity  basketball program for the past five seasons.  During his time at the hem of the varsity program Jonus lead the Knights to 77 victories and three consecutive AHSAA Sweet Sixteen appearances.

Crews comes to Arab from Oneonta where he has lead the Redskins to a combined 89-31 record including a pair of area championships over the past four seasons.  The 4A Redskins had not posted a winning record in the five seasons prior to his arrival in Blount County.

Before taking over the Oneonta program in 2017, he spent five seasons as an assistant at White Plains High School in Calhoun County.  Earlier in his career he served as a women’s assistant at Bryan College in Dayton, TN, head women’s basketball coach at Red Bank High (TN) and head men’s coach at Tennessee Temple Academy in Chattanooga.

A graduate of Trinity Christian Academy in Oxford, Crews played basketball at the college level at Tennessee Temple University.  He holds a History Education degree from Tennessee Temple and advanced education degrees from Lincoln Memorial University.
