Chase shines in Tabernacle season opener

Gardendale, AL – Tabernacle Christian quarterback Clinton Chase exploded for six touchdowns to lead the Torches to a 48-38 season opening victory Friday night over the East Central Patriots.  

Chase, who was making is first start under center, completed 16-of-24 passes for 314 yards and one INT while rushing for 30 yards on 19 attempts.  The standout junior added 52 return yards on special teams while recording a 75 yard interception return, five tackles, three assists and a fumble recovery on defense.  

Chase’s favorite target, junior receiver Daniel McCormick, snagged seven receptions for 212 yards, including six scoring grabs.  

The Torches return to action next Friday night in Montgomery against CFA foe Evangel Christian.
