Arab climbs into 6A Region 7 lead with 24-7 win over Southside-Gadsden

Southside, AL – The Arab Arabian Knights climbed into the Class 6A, Region 7 drivers seat Friday night, knocking off Southside-Gadsden (3-2, 2-1) at Barney Hood Stadium.

The Knights improved to 4-1, 3-0 in region play, midway through the 2021 campaign. Lee Ozmint’s Knights will play host to their three remaining region foes, Pell City (1-3, 0-2), traditional power Oxford (3-2, 2-1) and Springville (2-2, 1-1) before closing out the regular season against county rival Boaz.

Arab held the upper hand over the Tigers from the opening kick as standout signal caller Ed Johnson connected with his brother Wes for a 60 yard score three plays into the contest.  The senior quarterback finished the game with 231 yards through the air while adding 82 yards and a pair of scores on 24 rushing attempts.

The Knights step out of region play next Friday night, welcoming the winless Brewer Patriots (0-5) to the SportsPlex.
